Day Two Hundred And Thirty

Hay Bales September 1st, 2017
Today marks five years living in my cottage. Four years since I graduated from college. Normally months and season's tend to fly by. This summer though seemed to move slowly, a lot happened. But, August flew. It is hard to believe that in twenty days it will be autumn. My favorite season.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty One

Pokanoket Tribe September 2nd, 2017
These two gentlemen are guarding a road block at the entrance of the Brown University’s Haffenreffer Museum’s collection center as part of their tribe's occupation of the university's grounds. Before Europeans settled there, the Mount Hope area, now home to the museum, was the cultural and political center of the Pokanoket tribe. Also home to their chief, Metacomet, known as King Phillip by Colonial Europeans. Metacomet led the opposition to the Puritan expansion, known as King Philip's War. He was later killed in the area of Mount Hope at Miery Swamp by a group of rangers led by Capt Benjamin Church.
These two men were very kind to let me take their photograph and to tell me about what they hope to achieve with this occupation.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Two

Finished September 3rd, 2017
This morning I attended the Finish For a Guinness 5K in Warren, RI; which is raising funds and awareness for ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Passing rain showers laid siege to the runners during the race, sporadically intensifying at times. The temperatures were in the upper 50's, chilling people who were already wet, to the bone. This gentleman just finished despite the chill and rain, taking a moment now to breathe and reflect on his accomplishment. He and everyone else involved in this race truly deserve a Guinness.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Three

Wind Howling, Waves Lapping September 4th, 2017
After a chilly and wet day yesterday, today is gorgeous. The perfect September day. Subtle heat coming from the sun. A warm wind coming across the bay. Clear blue skies, which will chill the night air. Making it perfect for hoodies and bon fires.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Four

Pathway September 5th, 2017
"The autumn wind is a pirate. Blustering in from sea with a rollicking song he sweeps along swaggering boisterously. His face is weather beaten, he wears a hooded sash with a silver hat about his head... The autumn wind is a Raider, pillaging just for fun."
-Steve Sabol
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Five

Warmth September 6th, 2017
The wind is blowing strongly out of the south, causing this delicate and warm flag to tangle in the ship's rigging.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Six

Watching, Waiting, Wondering September 7th, 2017
"It's always fun messing around with costumes and stuff. You know there is an element of acting that you've got to dress-up; that's part of it."
-Gina Bellman
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Seven

Flying Kite's September 8th, 2017
Floating through a breeze, holding tight.
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Eight

Souvenirs and Junk September 9th, 2017
What are souvenirs, if not pieces of nostalgia?
Day Two Hundred And Thirty Nine

Ghost Flower September 10th, 2017
The Ghost Flower is a peculiar plant. Unusual from other leafed plants is that it is grey, not green. Meaning it cannot obtain nutrients from the sun through photosynthesis. Instead, it obtains nutrients from dead plant life and roots.
Day Two Hundred And Forty

Forest Burning September 11th, 2017
Working on a new original wood burning. I am hopeful that once I have a variety of original pieces I will be able to sell some art.
Day Two Hundred And Forty One

Autumn Webs September 12th, 2017
Beautiful and delicate. I wonder what is waiting in the darkness.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Two

Right-Side Up September 13th, 2017
I fear falling into the sky. Disappearing. Sinking into the inky darkness of space.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Three

Escape September 14th, 2017
The humidity is oppressing. Suffocating. The world is covered in a blanket of fog. I want to escape.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Four

Spooky Decor September 15th, 2017
"I love Halloween, and I love that feeling: the cold air, the spooky dangers lurking around the corner."
-Evan Peters
Day Two Hundred And Forty Five

Fake Beauty September 16th, 2017
I love seeing storefront decor during Autumn. Old brick buildings covered with fake leaves, pumpkins, spider webs, and skeletons. Truly gorgeous.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Six

Wolf Spider September 17th, 2017
When I was younger, my sibling's found a large wolf spider in our home's bathtub. It was the size of my hand at the time. About three to four inches. Disturbing.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Seven

Dark Room September 18th, 2017
This evening I was able to get back into the dark room for the first time in years. I missed the smell. The chemical smell of developer and the red glow of safety lights. I missed all of this.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Eight

Polaroid September 19th, 2017
I love to slightly obscure the view.
Day Two Hundred And Forty Nine

Jose September 20th, 2017
At this point, most of hurricane Jose has dissipated, already becoming a tropical storm. But the surf and surge still continue. Wind is still gusting. Today in Rhode Island some waves peaked to about eight to ten feet tall. A few adventurous surfers bobbed around, catching nice rides every so often.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty

Creaking September 21st, 2017
Today I was able to experience some of my favorite things in life. Good food, friends, exploring abandoned buildings, photography, discussing art, creaking floorboards, warm gusts tilting grasses and trees.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty One

Late Night Walk September 22nd, 2017
Late night walks are great for thinking. Comforted by the sounds of crickets and owls. Distant engines purring in the darkness. This is the time anyone can be lonely, constantly reminded that they are surrounded by sleeping people.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Two

Wet Autumn Leaves September 23rd, 2017
Yesterday began the first day of my favorite season. Autumn.
"Now Autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt."
-William Allingham
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Three

Night Light September 24th, 2017
I had wished to photograph the stars tonight. They were intense tonight. Billions of stars visible. Shooting stars. Satellites. The milky way streaking above. The crescent Autumn moon hanging above.
But, at the same time, I have to admit I really like this photograph.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Four

Tiled Floor September 25th, 2017
A few of the photos in this project were taken on days I did not feel like photographing anything. Because of this, those images were usually mediocre at best. This was one of the days.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Five

Red Cardinal September 26th, 2017
The Cardinal. The symbol of the Maddock family. Whenever I see this bird I cannot help but think of past lost family members. Keeping an eye out for the rest of us.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Six

Wet Web September 27th, 2017
I have noticed that throughout this project I have taken a few photos of either spiders or their webs. I love their delicate and artistic nature. This web especially. Covered with water droplets. No spider in sight. Is incredible.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Seven

Surfer September 28th, 2017
The waves were intense today in Little Compton, RI. Clean but dangerous. Surfers were spread out catching as many waves as possible. An older man broke his collarbone when he collided with his board while another person had their board snap in half.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Eight

Spirit September 29th, 2017
I have written before about my love of masks. Items which eliminate identity and create the uncanny. Something just off of normal. Masks have a big theme is horror and supernatural tales. The masked murderer, Jason Voorhees and the phantom of the opera for example; something just off about this person's identity. You can never figure out the true motives.
I wanted to create a supernatural character. Not a masked killer but a ghostly figure. Someone who died too soon. Either haunting those who did him wrong or watching over loved ones. There is a mystery. What is under the sack? Is there anything there? What are their motives?
I do want to add that I always find that seeing something beautiful in an otherwise forlorn image is incredible. A colorful flower on a battlefield. Love behind a monster's eyes. A misunderstanding.
Day Two Hundred And Fifty Nine

Crackling September 30th, 2017
Dried up dead leaves. Greens, browns, oranges, reds, and yellows. Trees ablaze.
