Day Two Hundred And Sixty

Cut Stems, Cold Water October 1st, 2017
"At night when the lake is a mirror
And the moon rides the waves to the shore
A single soul sets his voice singing
Content to be slightly forlorn
A song rises over the lilies)
Sweeps high to clear over the reeds
And over the bulrushes' swaying
To pluck at a pair of heartstrings
Two voices, now they are singing
Then ten, as the melody soars
Round the shimmering pond all are joining in song
As it carries their reverie on
Over the treetops and mountains
Over the blackened ravines
Then softly it falls by a house near a stream
And over the garden wall
To thee"
Jack Jones, Over the Garden Wall
Day Two Hundred And Sixty One

Trees Above Decay October 2nd, 2017
When I tell people that I love going to abandoned buildings. This is what I picture. This is what I love. In this case, moss-covered shingles slowly reforming back to nature. Beautiful and delicate details.
Day Two Hundred And Sixty Two

Glowing Ghost October 3rd, 2017
Every year this ghost inflatable is set up. In the darkness and the trees. Watching over the property and onlookers.
Day Two Hundred And Sixty Three

Harvest Moon October 4th, 2017
"Under the harvest moon,
When the soft silver
Drips shimmering
Over the garden nights,
Death, the gray mocker,
Comes and whispers to you
As a beautiful friend
Who remembers.
Under the summer roses
When the flagrant crimson
Lurks in the dusk
Of the wild red leaves,
Love, with little hands,
Comes and touches you
With a thousand memories,
And asks you
Beautiful, unanswerable questions."

Carl Sandburg, Under The Harvest Moon
Day Two Hundred And Sixty Four

Injured Flower October 5th, 2017
I have been enjoying using more negative space in my photographs. Framing out the subject. The space is as important as the thing.
Day Two Hundred And Sixty Five

Mackerel Sky October 6th, 2017
Beautiful night. A slight chill in the air along with a breeze. Stars peek through a mackerel sky. The nearby street lamp illuminates cars. It is beautiful.
Day Two Hundred And Sixty Six

Leather Bound October 7th, 2017
I love journals, this one is bound in soft leather. With thick paper inside. I look forward to filling this book.

Dark Water October 10th, 2017

-Oscar Wilde
Day Two Hundred And Seventy

Autumn Leaves, Cool Breeze October 11th, 2017
"I watch the woods for deer as if I’m armed.
I watch the woods for deer who never come.
I know the hes and shes in autumn
rendezvous in orchards stained with fallen
apples’ scent. I drive my car this way to work
so I may let the crows in corn believe
it’s me their caws are meant to warn,
and snakes who turn in warm and secret caves
they know me too. They know the boy
who lives inside me still won’t go away.
The deer are ghosts who slip between the light
through trees, so you may only hear the snap
of branches in the thicket beyond hope.
I watch the woods for deer, as if I'm armed."

-Bruce Weigl, My Autumn Leaves
Day Two Hundred And Seventy One

Pumpkin Patch October 12th, 2017
"I stomp around the pumpkin patch,
hunting for the perfect catch.
I peek beneath a veil of leaves,
and roll up both of my long sleeves.
I find a face that's much too tall,
another one that's much too small.
I search more choices one by one,
and find a gem that weighs a ton.

I take it home and wipe it clean,
Cause this one says, Happy Halloween."

-Annette Gulati, Pumpkin Hunt
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Two

Squirrels Gnawed Old Jack's Face October 13th, 2017
I always look forward to carving jack o' lanterns. Here is a classic only one night after I first carved it. The squirrels got to it during the day, chewing on the teeth while ants nibbled the inside. I cant be mad at the squirrels for this though. They need to eat. They need to get ready for another harsh winter.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Three

Still Standing October 14th, 2017
It is impressive that this dilapidated home is still upright. I figured the town would have demolished it. Just slowly decaying. It is pretty to see though, sitting on the marsh. I wonder if anything interesting had happened there.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Four

Deer Hunter October 15th, 2017
How amazing is it that something so simple is just so damn creepy? All this is, is a styrofoam head with fitted antlers. Sitting atop a broom handle, covered with a work shirt. It looks like some backcountry folk hoodoo.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Five

Sherbet Sky October 16th, 2017
Today, in one word was raw. It was cold and rained all day. But as the sun crept lower into the sky the clouds broke. The sun opened up, and the sky turned a bright hue, of red, orange, pink, and blue. Not dissimilar to cotton candy.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Six

Death? October 17th, 2017
A bony hand waving, a shadow on the wall.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Seven

Ablaze October 18th, 2017
This is the time of year when the forests are ablaze with oranges, reds, and yellow.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Eight

Howling Beach October 19th, 2017
A chilly but gorgeous day at the beach. I walked up and down the beach for a couple of hours. I missed the beach.
Day Two Hundred And Seventy Nine

Costume Design Pt. 1 October 20th, 2017
I spent hours today figuring out my Halloween costume. Deciding finally that I am going to be an astronaut. I fabricated a backpack and front console to wear over my jumpsuit. I am liking how this is coming out.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty

Costume Design Pt. 2 October 21st, 2017
Finished the front console of my astronaut console. Looks a little beat up and cheap, but I am still liking it.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty One

Silhouetted Morning Squirrel October 22nd, 2017
This morning is beautiful. Squirrels and birds eat their breakfast. As people slowly wake up for their days.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Two

Mannequin Hit and Run October 23rd, 2017
Unexpectedly came across this horrible scene. A poor mannequin had been hit and partially run over by a slow-moving train kart.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Three

Screaming Banshee October 24th, 2017
The wind is screaming tonight. It sounds like a train in the darkness. I can hear branches coming down in the distance. You, cannot tell from this photo. But, the curtains were whipping around excessively.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Four

Dripping Street Lamps October 25th, 2017
It has been raining all day. Everything is soggy and dark. The streetlights are dripping glowing droplets, being illuminated by fluorescent bulbs.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Five

Love October 26th, 2017
Had a wonderful short visit with my parents tonight. They stopped by briefly to grab dinner and catch up before they finished heading out to Cape Cod.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Six

Beep Beep Richie October 27th, 2017
Disturbing and colorful. Pennywise the dancing clown.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Seven

Dreaming of Woods October 28th, 2017
All that I can think about is the woods. I can't get it out. While I sleep, I see them. As if they have always been there, waiting. Waiting for me. I now fear sleeping, like Freddy Krueger is out to get me. I am starting to see stuff. Waking dreams. Endlessly tall trees. When I look out of the window in my city apartment trees appear from below, growing, rising toward the sky. I am trapped. I need sleep.
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Eight

What Do You See, When You See? October 29th, 2017
What do you see when you see?
Are you real? Or, just of an illusion. A dream.
Am I dreaming of you, while your dreaming of me?
Am I as real as you?
Day Two Hundred And Eighty Nine

Late Night Drink October 30th, 2017
Makeshift lanterns illuminated by glow sticks. Glass jars now glow green. Irradiated.
We sit silently listening to the wind and rain batter the cottage. The whiskey burns softly as we try to warm up after our hike through today's northeaster. We are no longer dripping, but we still have a chill, as our adrenaline comes down. A slight tremor comes across my hand, I can hear the ice clinking against the glass. This is one hell of a storm.
Day Two Hundred And Ninty

Spooks and Spirits October 31st, 2017
"Spooky scary skeletons
Send shivers down your spine
Shrieking skulls will shock your soul
Seal your doom tonight
Spooky scary skeletons
Speak with such a screech
You'll shake and shudder in surprise
When you hear these zombies shriek
We're so sorry skeletons
You're so misunderstood
You only want to socialize
But I don't think we should
Cause spooky scary skeletons
Shout startling shrilly screams
They'll sneak from their sarcophagus
And just won't leave you be"

-Andrew Gold, Spooky Scary Skeletons
