Day Three Hundred and Fifty Two

Salt Icicles January 1st, 2018

The first day of 2018 in Rhode Island. It is 5 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -4. Perfect day for a stroll through downtown, wouldn't you say?

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Three

Frozen Creek January 2nd, 2018

I love to see fast-moving water, flowing under inches of ice. I don't want to stand on it though.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Four

Wytches January 3rd, 2018

Reading "Wytches". Curled under my covers. Perfect place during a frigid night.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Five

Blizzard January 4th, 2018

Today winter storm Grayson hit the northeast. Around a foot of snow was dumped throughout the day. The same storm has caused severe flooding along with snow from Canada to Florida.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Six

Cold Morning January 5th, 2018

This morning I watched the sunrise, through a group of icicles hanging from my gutter.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Seven

Snow January 6th, 2018

12 inches of snow. 2-foot drifts along the front of my house. It looks like Canada outside, and I love it.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Seven

Blue Water January 7th, 2018

I've never seen saltwater this blue. It was and is gorgeous.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Eight

Morning Light January 8th, 2018

Morning light cascades through the dirty window panes and slight haze inside.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Nine

Winter Fire January 9th, 2018

I built up a wall of snow. Circling the recently uncovered firepit. The warmth from the flames radiate, slowly melting and freezing the walls. Causing them to become stronger.

Day Three Hundred and Sixty

Soup January 10th, 2018

Soup is exactly what I needed today.

Day Three Hundred and Sixty One

Green Lights January 11th, 2018

Lights through a green bottle. Moisture reflecting. Lights bouncing around. Sitting in a tub of water.

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Two

Noir January 12th, 2018

Recreating film noir themes from "Rear Window". Just for the hell of it.

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Three

Gull January 13th, 2018

"Melancholy days stretch
their spindly fingers, silently
grasping and uprooting
these vain contextual processes-
even as seaweed hair clings to rock
and the semiotic tides weep below

Hush now and they’ll appear
in unwavering moonlight
prospective fishermen (mere boys, really)
casting heavy nets into the sea,
much like their silent runaway dreams…
a multitude of iridescent scales escaping
yet oddly transforming into
the vast unknown."

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Four

Glass January 14th, 2018

Ice is violent and fragile. While it can cut through the steel hull of a ship, it can also shatter from a fallen twig. It is rhythmic in structure. Water freezing into layers, waves frozen in place, solid waterfalls, and enormous icicles. Ice is water's most beautiful and delicate form. It is artwork in itself.

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Five

Frozen in Time  January 15th, 2018

Well, I guess that's it. Today is the final day of my project. The last photo. I wasn't sure what to photograph. If I should do something special. Something to culminate the whole project. But, I just didn't want to. I did not want today to be better than any other day this year. Any other photo. This is just the photo of the day. The photo for January 15th 2018.

I do want to thank everyone who has followed this project from the beginning. I will be honest it was tough. I lost interest pretty early on. If I didn't have to post the photos on Instagram, I would have failed this project within two months. It's tough to keep up with a project like this. To keep taking and posting photographs I like. There are a handful of photos from this project which I absolutely hate. But, under the terms of the project, I had to still post them. This was hard but it kept me moving. So, thank you.
