Day One

Date with my Longboard, Jan 15th, 2017
What a nice day to ride to town. Today I decided while I was taking my morning shower to start this project. The Basis is to take one photograph a day. Then write a small blurb about either the photo or the day. Every day I will upload the photo and blurb onto my website. I will promote it through Instagram. I hope that this will promote me to keep up with photography and writing.
The photograph today is at my favorite coffee shop, Angelina's. In downtown Bristol, RI. I rode my longboard here from my place.I am drinking a peach tea today.I am going to call this photograph, "Date with my Longboard".
Day Two

Something Good, Jan 16th, 2017
"Something good, oh something good tonight will make me forget about you for now. Get high, hit the floor before you go. Matador, Estacada, you’re my blood sport. But something good tonight will make me forget about you for now. Forty-eight thousand seats bleats and roars for my memories of you"- Alt-J. These are the lyrics for the song, which this photograph is named after. I was originally going to write something about fire or warmth. But as I was thinking, this song came on. It just seemed to fit.
Day Three

Glow, Jan 17th, 2017
Today I want to speak with you about masks. I really like masks. I am not writing about the masks we each have but the physical object. These masks do the same thing as our personal mask. They conceal. They hide something that is below. I feel that by wearing a physical mask a person can truly be themselves because they are not worried about how others look upon them. I am currently working on a mask, which I will be photographing at a later time. Maybe you will see it in this project. I will end this note with a quote by Oscar Wilde as I feel this works perfectly. "Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth."
Day Four

Mask, Jan 18th, 2017
I wanted to speak about the photograph I had taken today. I am not sure what to say, though. The image makes me feel uncomfortable but I really wanted to present it. It is a disturbing image. And it makes me nervous and anxious. I think I am just going to let the photograph speak for itself.
Day Five

Ready, Jan 19th, 2017
Tomorrow I am taking the bus from Providence, RI to New York City. For a spontaneous weekend trip. On this trip, I am hoping to take a lot of amazing photographs. I want to try to take more photographs of people. Above is what I am bringing. Excluding my camera as I used it to photograph and two pairs of shoes which I didn't want on the bed. This is all I feel like writing this evening. I will write to you tomorrow.
Day Six

Dirty Window, Jan 20th, 2017
I am currently sitting alone on the Amtrak toward Penn station. I made an annoying and silly mistake. I was previously on the bus, the wrong bus. I was supposed to be on the 8:30 am Peter Pan bus from Providence to New York City. I unknowingly got on the Greyhound bus, also heading to NYC but 3 hours later.
When I arrived at the Providence bus terminal at Kennedy Plaza I went to the Peter Pan desk to ask where my bus will be arriving. I was told lane F. I wished her a good day and walked to lane F. I was 40 minutes early, so I sat on a bench to wait. As it grew closer to 8:30 a group began to build all with luggage all heading to New York. I did not think anything of it. What I did not know was that they were taking the trip on the Greyhound line, not Peter Pan. When their bus arrived I got on. I did note that the bus was blue (Peter Pan is green), but I did not think anything of it. I just thought I might be a different bus. I thought it was odd though when the Greyhound bus driver (who previously accepted my ticket) said that our next stop was to Foxwood's Casino. I found this strange because Peter Pan usually goes directly to New York. But it had been 8 years since I had been on a Peter Pan bus, so I put that thought out of my mind.
When we arrived at Foxwood's I got out to stretch with a few of the other passengers. That is when I saw the Greyhound logo on the side of the bus. I spoke to the bus driver. He looked through his tickets and found the odd one in the bunch. My ticket; the only one for Peter Pan. The bus driver told me we were going to making every major stop towards New York. Including New London, CT. I decided I would get out at New London and fork up some $90 for a comfortable trip into the city. The train was arriving only an hour and a half after I was supposed to arrive on Peter Pan. I do hope it was worth the cost. The view was certainly nice.
Day Seven

I Never Forgot, Jan 21st, 2017
Today I found a beautiful memorial for the September 11th attacks. Two tall parallel walls, from the distance it showed where the Twin Towers stood. On the walls, the interior was written a list of names, (I believe without actually knowing) which belong to the victims of the attacks. A truly powerful moment.
Whenever I discuss 9/11, I tend to get choked up. I didn't know anyone who died but it still upsets me, as if I did. I was ten years old, in fifth grade. I was at school and the principal went on the speaker system and told the teachers in the classrooms in fifth and six grade to switch on the television. He told us that it was important to watch the news as an important moment in history. That something happened in New York City. Our teacher turned on the television and we watched the live feed of smoke coming from one of the towers. Then we watched "live" the second plane hit the tower. I remember a fellow student in the classroom balling. Later I found out that, that student's uncle and cousin worked in one of the tower's. They both died that day.
A later memory I have is of me and my father walking around my grandfather's road. Where we were going from door to door asking for and receiving blankets, bottles of water, cans of food. Anything people could give us, my dad would then send the items to the firefighters, police, emergency responder's, anyone who needed it as they cleared the rubble looking for survivors.
Day Eight

Five, Jan 22nd, 2017
When I came to New York City I had hoped to take a bunch of photographs. Of the people, buildings, really anything I saw. I realized when I walked around that I really don't like taking photographs of strangers. I felt very uncomfortable. I only took a handful of photos during the trip. Nothing like I had planned. I don't have much to say about this day or photograph. It doesn't seem memorable but I like it.
Day Nine

Rain Boots, Jan 23rd, 2017
Today I found these amazing Polaroid photographs. These beautiful images are postcards. I always enjoy mailing and receiving postcards and letters. There is something really nice about receiving a hand written letter, that someone took the time to create something beautiful and rare. I will be sending out these postcards to whomever. If you wish for me to send you a personally written letter, let me know and send me your address. I would love to send you one.
Day Ten

Modern Meditation, Jan 24th, 2017
During a storm, I was walking around town as the rain was pouring down. I was heading toward the local fishing dock and without paying much attention (I was daydreaming and looking at a flying gull). I stepped on an extremely slippery piece of the boardwalk which was under two inches of water. I immediately slipped and landed with a loud thump onto my back in the puddle. It happened fast and it hurt like hell. Being concerned/ embarrassed that someone probably saw me fall I immediately jumped up and started to crack up. It is interesting that I reacted like this. That after injuring myself I felt I needed to laugh to play down my fall.
Day Eleven

Gray, Jan 25th, 2017
It was tough to choose which photograph to use for today. But I believe this was the right decision. I've got to say, it is kind of a pain in the ass to have to write every day. Some days I just don't really care. Or I simply don't have anything to write. Look at today, for example, I didn't know what to write so I wrote about not having anything to write. That is all for today.
Day Twelve

Entertaining, Jan 26th, 2017
It is very interesting to live in this day and age. To receive my entertainment through a handheld electronic device. In this photograph, I was watching video game gameplay. Which in itself is an odd form of entertainment? There is something strangely enjoyable about watching someone playing a video game either in a pre-edited video or live. It is in many ways the similar to watching a sporting event.
Day Thirteen

Fall, Jan 27th, 2017
So I met with my friend Allegra, hoping to find a cool location for a photograph. I found a location halfway between our locations. I found an old Victorian style mansion which is now inside a Massachusetts state park. Of course, when we arrived they were closed and there was nowhere we could park our cars, so we could walk around and check out the mansion. We decided to just go grab a cup of coffee, I didn't think I would be able to find a place before the sun went down (the sun was going down). As I was driving, I quickly noticed this waterfall and had to stop. I will say I love this photograph we used a 30-second exposure, as it was getting dark fast. I had Allegra (who is photographed) stand in the center of the bridge and slowly moved her head. I love blurry and masked figures. Eerie and beautiful.
Day Fourteen

Hesitant, Jan 28th, 2017
These beautiful animals were hesitant when I first walked over (I was also). I asked if it was okay to take their photo's.They did not seem bothered by this. After a moment two walked up to me and motioned me to pet their snout's. I did not do this, though, (as I was fearing an uncomfortable outcome). Over time the group became comfortable with me. As if I had always been there. Although the one in the back (photographed above). Kept giving me shifty eyes. Whichever way I would go, the eyes would follow. I thanked my new friends and went on my way. Maybe they will create a story about me. "The Stranger with the Strange Box". (I've got to say, if there was a book written by donkeys or from their perspective, I would totally read it. Ever if it was all about grazing, and social structure".)
Day Fifteen

Colour, Jan 29th, 2017
I really enjoy seeing bold colours contrasting with the decaying background of an abandoned building. I really enjoy "good" graffiti for this reason. Graffiti can bring an abandoned industrial site back from the brink to make a beautiful form of art. It is the new "pop art". The direct definition for pop art is an art form based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values. By definition, graffiti is a comment of our industrial and modernized society.
Day Sixteen

Things, Jan 30th, 2017
Recently, I listened to an audiobook about tidying up which discussed the best way to clean your bookshelves, movies, etc. It told me to take everything out of the shelves and pile each them to better decide which item's give me joy. I decided to pile my stuff in organized group's (for a photo opportunity). I never realized I had so many things. Books I have never/ will never read and movies I've never really enjoyed.
Day Seventeen

Bicycle, Jan 31st, 2017
Today my friend Tabitha and I had my first photo shoot of 2017.Tabitha is always a fun person to photograph, from being able to be posed and show emotion to having a wide variety of clothing to photograph. Always having something which fits into my aesthetic. That aesthetic being, bright/ colourful or beautifully textured clothing in front of neutral/ bland colours.
