Day Three Hundred and Twenty One

Twilight Walk December 1st, 2017

"I believe in process. I believe in four seasons. I believe that winter's tough, but spring's coming. I believe that there's a growing season. And I think that you realize that in life, you grow. You get better."

-Steve Southerland

"All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast."
-John Gunther

Fish December 3rd, 2017

I am now more easily able to avoid awkward social situations. "Oh, sorry I can't stay. I've got to go feed my fish."

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Four

Through the Stars December 4th, 2017

Planes at night. Darting across a starry sky.

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Five

Snowflakes December 5th, 2017

Lights dart the downtown's of New England. Leaving a warmth in the cold. I just wish they could keep these lights up for the rest of winter. January and February, are dark and cold and need some warmth.

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Six

Holes in my Socks December 6th, 2017

My aquarium in incredibly mesmerizing. I just want to watch the fish swim.

I hope they are happy and healthy inside their new home.

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Seven

Decorating December 7th, 2017

I much as I love October and Halloween. I need to leave some love for December and the Winter holidays.

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Eight

Cauldron Bubbles December 8th, 2017

"Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake,

In the caldron boil and bake;

Eye of newt and toe of frog,

Wool of bat and tongue of dog,

Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,

Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,

For a charm of powerful trouble,

Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Cool it with a baboon's blood,

Then the charm is firm and good."

-William Shakespeare, Macbeth

Day Three Hundred and Twenty Nine

Chubby Squirrel December 9th, 2017

First snow of the Winter season. This friendly squirrel is searching for some breakfast during a snowy morning.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty

Crystalize December 10th, 2017

"The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?"
-J.B. Priestley

Day Three Hundred and Thirty One

Hungry December 11th, 2017

I love that when I wake up in the morning I can look at my bird feeder, covered in finches, blue jays, cardinals, and mourning doves.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Two

Colorful Feathers December 12th, 2017

This small amount of color is striking against the cold gray day.

I freaking love this photograph. The black spikes protruding through the delicate white. Snow and plants.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Five

Lights and Snow December 15th, 2017

Snowy drive, on my way home after work.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Six

How's About Charlie December 16th, 2017

I've been trying to cut back on drinking lately, but today sucked. I wanted to be social and to hang out with strangers. I needed a respite.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Seven

Long Walks on the Beach December 17th, 2017

"Cold saturated winds,
sweep up my back.
Leaving mountainous goose bumps,
that ache my body to the bone.
Breathing in the salt stained air,
as the heroic white waves crash onto the shore.
I sit in my own sea of bewilderment,
until the tide casually creeps out.
The Winter Ocean is a mighty being.
Cold and harsh,
yet complex and sophisticated.
I wouldn't want to be in any other season."

-Rae Lynn, Winter Ocean

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Eight

Mysterious Tracks December 18th, 2017

Tracks in the snow. Cover my yard. Leading to circles and unknown locations.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Nine

Fires December 19th, 2017

I wanted to take a photo out of respect for all the forest fires in California currently. Towns have been decimated. This year, 2017, has been a year of natural disasters. Incredibly strong hurricanes, large forest fires, earthquakes, tornados, flooding, blizzards, Trump. It's been a rough year.

Day Three Hundred and Forty

Makeshift Tree December 20th, 2017

It's cool to see these lights from across the harbor. Something just simple and cool.

Day Three Hundred and Forty One

Rooted December 21st, 2017

It's incredible. I planted this Coleus in water on October 1st and since it has bloomed and flowered. Spreading its own roots.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Two

Cats December 22nd, 2017

My fingers sting from the cold air. Burning. I forgot my gloves on my end table. Today is the first full day of Winter. I need to be more aware of the clothing I bring when I go out.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Three

Raw December 23rd, 2017

This weather is miserable. Raw, cold and rainy. Gets to your bones.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Four

Paying our Respects December 24th, 2017

It has become a tradition in my family to go to the graveyard on Christmas Eve and pay our respects to deceased family members. Both sets of grandparents, Maddock and Kilroy. My dad's brother Cliff and my great aunt and uncle, the Roses.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Five

Not Your Traditional Christmas December 25th, 2017

I spent my Christmas morning, not by tearing apart wrapping paper under a tree. But by, freezing my toches off as I watched the terrifying and beautiful North Atlantic.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Six

Through The Dunes December 26th, 2017

An orange glow hums across the frozen dunes. The grass still. Frozen, despite the north wind. I am sheltered in the concave opening between dunes. Sand whips by above me, slicing through the air like sleet. But despite all this, I am warm in my shelter.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Seven

Another Sunset, Taller Grass December 27th, 2017

What can I say? Winter sunsets just look beautiful through tall grass. In this case cattails.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Eight

Fawkes December 28th, 2017

I missed my hometown friends. Missed their band. I always love being part of band practice. People tend to be more comfortable.

Also, a call out to bands. If you want a photographer, let's get in touch. I really love taking music based photographs.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Nine

Rickety Stairs December 29th, 2017

I remember climbing those stairs one night; when there were stairs that is. A few years past. I was with a group of my hometown friends. Probably ten of us. We were heading into the old boy scout camp at the top of the bluffs under cover of darkness. In order to play manhunt. We couldn't use our flashlights to much, for fear of drawing too much-unneeded attention.  The stairwell was rickety then, but we pressed on.

It's strange to see it collapsed.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty

Cold Ferry Ride December 30th, 2017

Headed back to New England today. My new and current home. In very New England winter fashion its snowing and its about 9 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

Day Three Hundred and Fifty One

Last Sunset of 2017 December 31st, 2017

2017 is over. It's been interesting. Like a beautiful sunset through dirty glass. It had its beautiful moments, its perks, more to a personal level. But, like every year it was also rough and scary. It was a year of natural disasters for most of the world. I was lucky in that sense. I only had to deal with a handful of terrible storms and only one power outage, which lasted a few days. So let's raise our glasses. Here's to another year. Here's to it ups and downs. Here's to 2018. We're living in the future.
